ok i got my playstation about 2 years ago with no problems and now just about 2 or 3 months ago i got the YLOD and i knew right away that my warrenty was done because of it being past 2 years so i looked online for a repair shop and i found play n trade they fix the YLOD they had my playstation for about a month and 3 weeks and i called them about 2 days ago and the guy gave me the bad news that my ps3 is unfixable i guess since playstaion stopped making the 60gb ones that they dont have the parts anymore now i was just wondering should i call playstation up and tell them this and what do you think they will do, fix it, or give me a already fixed up one?
I just looked at my ps3 and the void sticker on the left side and all it says are the print playstation put on it, it dont say void, void, void all over it so play n trade did not open it up

Nothing.
That Sucks For You
Since you voided the warranty by sending it to someone other then Sony they won’t fix it for you. You are kind of screwed.
When writing periods work well, so do comas.
Anyway, since your warranty is out of time, not voided out because you did not to do so, you will have to pay for it to be fixed yourself. Before you go about doing so, or from what you said, you cannot find the parts to fix it, I would look into the cost and weigh the options of getting a new system or paying for it to be fixed. You can always move your hard drive into your new system too.
But I would contact Sony and ask them about fixing it relaying the information about the part situation. Most likely they will just say get a new system and make sure to mention switching hard drives between systems.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.
There are three things you can do when you get the YLOD. It looks like you kind of tried, but didn’t get it 100%
Option 1: Send it to Sony to get it replaced (yes, replaced). When one gets the YLOD and sends it to Sony, they ship you a replacement console and it will cost you $150 plus tax
Option 2: Send it to a third party place that can get it fixed for you. But by doing so, Sony will no longer service your console in the future if need be. One of these third party places is gophermods.com. I’ve not tried them, but I do hear they work well, and are a lot cheaper than Sony’s fee..
Option 3 (not really recommended): Fix it yourself. There are videos on youtube showing you how. Again, it’s not recommended unless you are familiar with electronics and stuff.
With all that said, since play n trade told you they don’t have the parts for it, I think it’s safe to say they opened it, which as I mentioned above, means sony will not service your console. Your best bet is to try gophermods.com
Good luck.
Well you are not completely screwed. There are 6 videos done by gilksy on how to fix the ps3 ylod. He uses a 60GB ps3 that has ylod to fix it.
This is the first video, they are very detailed. Even if you are not super tech savvy, you should be able to fix it.
